PLEASE READ OVER ONE TIME BEFORE YOU CARRY OUT ANYTHING!!!

The following files are the hpRUU files edited for the appropriate language. Please watch the model numbers! Models that end with 0 don't have a camera. So if you have a 6315, 6325, or 6365 you would use the 6365 files. Unless you don't care about your camera and can do without it.

Now these are just the language files, you'll still need the ROM files. Also please be aware, if you carry out these steps you will lose all your data from the iPAQ. YOU SHOULD NOT RESTORE BACKUPS!!! Only use ActiveSync to SYNCHRONIZE your mail, contacts, note, etc...

Also note, if you have a 6310, 6315, 6320, or 6325 you can't change your language and expect to maintain the same carrier specific applications. So if you have one of the previously mentioned models then decide if you want to have a different language or if you want the carrier specific customizations.

Now that you've decided...Please make sure you read these instructions once over before carrying out the task. If you have any questions bring them over to the PDAPhoneHome forum.

Instructions:

  1. Open My Computer
  2. Click on Tools---Folder Options and select the View tab
  3. In the Advanced Settings box uncheck the option for "Hide extensions for known file types"

Now to get you going....

  1. Download the modified HPRUU. Select the appropriate model, and language.
  2. Download the ROM directly from HP
  3. Extract the ROM using your unzip program (i.e. WinRAR, WinZip, 7zip, etc...)
  4. Rename hpRUU.exe in the extracted folder to something else. (i.e. hpRUU.exe.bak)
  5. Copy and paste modified hpRUUSP30xxx.exe into the extracted directory.
  6. Rename the modified hpRUUSP30xxx.exe to hpRUU.exe

And for the final part...

  1. Restart your computer (this way there's nothing running and you have a fresh system...kind of..)
  2. Place your iPAQ unit in Bootloader mode. (This can be done by pressing the mail & contacts buttons and push the soft reset button. Wait for the Screen to come up and if the bottom right corner reads BL then you can release the mail & contacts button as the unit is now in boot loader mode. Ergo BL) STEP TWO AND THREE NEED TO BE CARRIED OUT QUICKLY!!!
  3. Once in BL mode place unit in the cradle (make sure the cradle is connected to your computer)
  4. And now finally execute the hpRUU.exe file to proceed with the language flash.
